Lucid for Android
Terms of Use
Effective 4 November 2026
In short. Use Lucid for translating text on your own screen. It is a reading aid, not a certified translator: machine translation is often good and sometimes wrong, so do not rely on it for anything where a mistake would matter. The app is provided as it is, free of charge, by Grafizum.
1. These terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Grafizum covering your use of the Lucid Android app and this website. Installing or using Lucid means you accept them. If you do not, uninstall the app.
2. What Lucid is
Lucid is a floating lens that reads text on your screen and translates it into a language you choose. It runs on Android, uses your device’s accessibility interface to read text under the lens, and can optionally use screen capture for images and video. Translation runs either through Google’s translation service or through on-device models, depending on the engine you select.
3. Your responsibilities
- Use Lucid only on devices and screens you are entitled to read.
- Follow the terms of the apps and services you use it over.
- Grant only the permissions you are comfortable with; you can withdraw them in Android’s settings at any time.
- Do not modify, resell or redistribute Lucid as your own product, or use it to break the law.
4. Translation accuracy
Lucid uses machine translation. It is useful for understanding messages, menus, pages and conversations, and it can be wrong — especially with idioms, names, and languages with little training data. Do not rely on it for medical, legal, financial, safety or emergency information. Where accuracy matters, use a qualified human translator. Labels on the card (“online”, “on-device”) tell you which engine produced the answer.
5. Third-party services
When the online engine is used, the text under the lens is sent to Google Translate to be translated, and Google’s terms apply to that request. On-device mode uses Google ML Kit models stored on your phone. Lucid itself sends your text to no one else. See the Privacy Policy for the full picture.
6. Your content
You keep all rights to the text Lucid reads and to any translation it shows you. We claim no licence over it, and we receive none of it.
7. Availability and changes
Lucid is provided free of charge. We may update it, change its features, or stop distributing it at any time. New releases may change how the app behaves; the store listing and release notes will say what changed.
8. No warranty
Lucid is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any translation will be accurate.
9. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Grafizum is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss arising from reliance on a translation, from text the app failed to read, or from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, or affects your statutory consumer rights.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Switzerland, without regard to conflict-of-law rules, and the courts at Grafizum’s seat in Switzerland have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer, this does not take away the protection of the mandatory law of the country where you live.
11. Ending this agreement
You may end it at any time by uninstalling Lucid. We may end it if the app is misused in a way that harms others or breaks these terms.
